A great place to visit after touring the Oregon Coast Aquarium - for those that want to prolong their learning experience or delve a little deeper. The Hatfield Marine Science Center is Oregon State University's campus for research, education, and outreach in marine and coastal sciences. Exhibits feature live marine animals, interactive puzzles and hands -on games that demonstrate marine science concepts and other aspects of our amazing ocean planet. Trained volunteers are happy to answer your questions, and our bookstore offers books, videos and games.

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is one of the most popular attractions on the Oregon Coast.  It is located in South Beach, just across the Yaquina Bridge from Newport. Parking is plentiful and suitable for RVs. There are six main sections of the aquarium, which include both indoor and outdoor displays. Every year, special displays are offered, highlighting a particular type of habitat. The many guides and volunteers at the aquarium will be happy to answer any of your questions. There is also a touch tank that give visitors the opportunity to actually feel some of the marine life, such as sea anemones. The aquarium is open every day of the year except Christmas Day.

Soaring more than 93 feet in height, this is the tallest lighthouse on the Oregon coast. Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area is located on a narrow point of land jutting due west into the ocean at the north end of Newport. This headland provides visitors with one of the most accessible wildlife and ocean viewing locations on the coast. The park grounds are open every day of the year. The entrance gate opens at sunrise or 6:00 AM, whichever is later, and closes at sunset.
